August 2025 — While on vacation, a Cellutrak customer received a call from his neighbor reporting that excavation supplies had been stolen from nearby properties. The customer then checked his phone and realized that the Cellutrak anti-theft system had sent out towing alerts earlier that morning at approximately 5:00 AM. Using the Cellutrak mobile application, he verified that his Kubota U35 mini-excavator was no longer in his garage in Trois-Rivières, Québec.
Upon returning home, the customer confirmed that their properties had been vandalized, and excavation tools were stolen from two separate garages.
Using the date and time stamp from the Cellutrak alerts as a guide, the customer didn’t waste any time reviewing security camera footage and pulled up the exact moment of the theft. The video showed that the thieves arrived with a trailer, hooked the Kubota, and towed it away during the night. The same trailer had been observed on camera the previous evening, indicating the theft was premeditated.
The customer provided The Police de Trois-Rivières with the live GPS location from the Cellutrak application, displaying approximately 14 KM away from the original location. Authorities responded, located the stolen Kubota parked outside a building, and successfully recovered it. At this time, the customer is unaware whether arrests were made.
This was the second theft incident experienced by the customer. In a previous incident, before installing Cellutrak, the stolen equipment was not recovered. With Cellutrak GPS tracking and theft-line support, his Kubota was promptly located and retrieved.
